Trump says he has gotten ‘wonderful’ letter from China’s Xi
US President Donald Trump said on Thursday he had gotten a “wonderful letter” from Chinese President Xi Jinping as exchanges on an economic accord between the two nations proceed in Washington.
“He just kept in touch with me a wonderful letter. I’ve quite recently gotten it and I’ll most likely address him by telephone,” Trump said.
Later he cited Xi as saying in the letter: “We should cooperate how about we check whether we can complete something.”
Trump said he trusted it was conceivable to achieve an arrangement this week, as moderators get ready to meet again on Thursday in Washington to end an exchange debate between the world’s two biggest economies.
The US Trade Representative’s office declared that taxes on $200 billion worth of Chinese merchandise would increment to 25 percent from 10 percent at 12:01 a.m. (0401) GMT on Friday, directly amidst two days of gatherings with a Chinese appointment.
Trump has blamed China for reneging on duties it had made so far in the discussions.
“We’re getting near an arrangement then they began to renegotiate the arrangement. We can’t have that. We can’t have that,” he said.
